Welcome to our new website!
We hope you will find it informative and pleasant to navigate.
The 2015 Wild Blueberry harvest is now over. Shipments of our popular little berry are now underway to our world-wide clientele. It is appropriate that during this Canadian Thanksgiving period we look back in appreciation to what has been a very satisfactory harvest overall and a strong sales season.
Quebec’s conventional Wild Blueberry crop came in as expected, albeit less abundant than in 2014 which was a particularly plentiful one. To the east, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia had robust crops, allowing us to complement our purchases from Quebec.
Over the years, we’ve developed solid strategic alliances with growers in Quebec and in other growing regions, to reduce the impacts of regional crop variations that can occur from year to year. This year we should have ample supply to respond to our customers’ conventional Wild Blueberry demand, thanks in part to our New Brunswick and Nova Scotia growers and partners.
As for our coveted Organic Wild Blueberries, as many of you know, these are only found in Quebec (in large, sustainable quantities). As such, we can’t turn to other growing regions to supplement our own crop as we do on the conventional side. This year’s Organic harvest was not as we had hoped and customers will have to work with less than half of our 2014 Organic production.
As the demand for Organic Wild Blueberries outpaces the supply, our group is implementing measures on the agricultural side that will enable us to consistently deliver a larger amount of Organic Wild Blueberries to our customers in the years to come.
On the industrial side, we are also continuously investing in our infrastructure to ensure on-going deliveries of top quality fruit. This year we inaugurated our new 5 M lb cold storage, bringing our total coldstorage (freezer) capacity to approx. 25 M lbs, or over 11,000 mt of frozen fruit.
In addition to the above, we are pushing forward with our value added endeavors involving our infused dried Organic and Conventional Wild Blueberry division. Bleuet Nordic houses our most sophisticated processing facility. This year we began shipping Organic apple juice infused dried Wild Blueberries, a particularly delicious addition to our offering. Demand for this division’s products is already strong and we see excellent growth opportunities for the coming years which leads us to be very upbeat about Bleuet Nordic’s prospects. The 3 existing Product Specs can be seen on Bleuet Nordic’s website at: www.bleuetnordic.com
We look forward to meeting our current and prospective customers at the various events that we attend, sometimes as exhibitors where you will have the opportunity to sample our infused/dried products. We’ll keep you posted of our upcoming trade show participations as exhibitors via this Newsletter and will invite you to visit our booth on these occasions.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me directly with any questions that you may have. We also welcome new product suggestions and will be happy to discuss these with you.
In closing, we wish to thank all our customers and sales agents for your on-going support. We wouldn’t be here without you. As well, a word of thanks to the folks at MFLRP and Poisson Rose for putting together our new website. It was a pleasure working with you.
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to all!
